The Gophers women race at the Joe Piane Notre Dame Invite while the Minnesota men race at the Paul Short Run this week.
MINNEAPOLIS -- The University of Minnesota cross country program is sending athletes to a handful of meets this week. The No. 29 Gophers women will split the squad at the Joe Piane Notre Dame Invitational and the UW-Eau Claire Blugold Invitational this Friday, and the Gopher men will race at the Paul Short Run on Saturday.
About the Joe Piane Invitational
The Joe Piane Notre Dame Invitational will be held at Burke Golf Course in Notre Dame, Ind., this Friday. Minnesota is in the first race of the day, the Women's Blue Division 5K at 12 p.m. CT; the Women's Open Division 5K is at 1:30 p.m. CT, and the Women's Gold Division 5K is at 2:15 p.m. CT. Teams are limited to eight runners per gender in their respected Blue or Gold race; an additional seven runners per gender may race in the Open Division race.
The Gophers face competition from Alabama, Arizona, Auburn, Boston College, Bradley, Butler, Colorado, Colorado State, Florida State, Indiana, Iowa, Iowa State, NC State, New Mexico, North Carolina, Notre Dame, Ole Miss, Purdue, Utah, Utah Valley, Washington, Weber State, and Wisconsin in the Women's Blue Race.
About the Blugold Invitational
The UW-Eau Claire Blugold Invitational is this Friday at Whitetail Golf Course near Colfax, Wis. The men's 8K race kicks off the event at 4:15 p.m. CT with the women's 6K race to follow at 5:15 p.m. CT.
About the Paul Short Run
The Gophers are set to race at the Paul Short Run hosted by Lehigh at Goodman Campus Cross Country Course in Bethlehem, Pa., this Saturday. The open men's 8K race kicks off the day at 8:30 a.m. CT. A full day of racing also includes the Men's College Gold 8k Race (10 a.m. CT), Men's College Brown 8k Race (11:15 a.m. CT), and Men's College White 8k Race (12:45 p.m. CT).
Last Time Out: Roy Griak Invitational
Minnesota hosted the 34th annual Roy Griak Invitational at Les Bolstad Golf Course last weekend. The No. 22 Gopher women secured a third-place team finish with 81 points led by Anastasia Korzenowski's eighth-place showing in 21:34.5. Carissa Dock, Jaycie Thomsen, Tate Sweeney, Maria Eastman, Abby Kohut-Jackson, and Olivia Hummel rounded out Minnesota's top seven, all finishing among the top-30 overall. On the men's side, Connor Olson's 22nd-place finish led the Gophers to a seventh-place finish, and Dawson LaRance, Khalid Hussein, Shane Streich, Robert Wagner, Nick Rink, and Hunter Lucas rounded out the top seven for the Maroon & Gold with all five scorers for the Gophers finishing among the top-50 racers.

After a week off from racing the Gophers women are back in action at the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational on Friday, Oct. 18 and the Tori Neubauer Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 19. The Gopher men also have a week off from competition before resuming racing at the Pre-National Invitational and the Jim Drews Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 19.
