No. 25 Minnesota returns home to host Jack's Twilight Run at 5 p.m. CT Friday at Les Bolstad Course.

MINNEAPOLIS -- The No. 25 University of Minnesota women's cross country team returns home to host Jack's Twilight Run at 5 p.m. CT Friday at Les Bolstad Course. The 6K race is open to the public and has race-day registration on site on Friday.

About Jack's Twilight Run

Jack's Twilight Run features a spectator-friendly looped route through Les Bolstad Course. Local runners and cross country fans alike are invited to experience cross country running firsthand at the home of the Gophers. Participation in the race is $10 just to run or $20 to run and receive a hat; all proceeds from the race go toward the Jack Johnson Scholarship. Registration will open at 3:30 p.m. CT Friday on-site at Les Bolstad Course.

Jack's Run honors the late Minnesota equipment manager Jack Johnson. Johnson will always be a part of the Minnesota women's cross country and track programs. After serving as the Golden Gophers' equipment manager for over three decades, Johnson passed away in February 2006 after a battle with cancer.

Last Time Out: Nuttycombe, Pre-Nationals

The Minnesota women finished 16th in a stacked field at the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational last week. The Gophers scored 474 points to place 16th of 36 teams at the meet. Abby Kohut-Jackson led the Gophers for the first time this season, posting a career-best 6K time of 20:57.7 to finish 64th overall. Jaycie Thomsen (21:06.8) and Anastasia Korzenowski (21:09.8) both recorded career-best times as well, coming in 74th and 79th, respectively. Zetta Mason and Carissa Dock rounded out Minnesota's top five individuals.

Meanwhile, the Gopher men placed 12th at the Pre-National Invitational led by Alec Basten, who set the school record for an 8K course earlier this season. Basten finished 16th with a time of 23:49.5 while Jack Manderscheid added a 32nd-place performance with a time of 24:11.0. Owen Hoeft (112th, 24:57.0), Jordan MacIntosh (116th, 24:59.4) and Evan Ferlic (159th, 25:24.4) rounded out the scoring for Minnesota as the Maroon & Gold totaled 435 points in the team's final competition before the B1G Championships.

Up Next: Big Ten Championship

The 2019 Big Ten Conference Cross Country Championships will be hosted by Ohio State on Sunday, Nov. 3 in Columbus, Ohio. The men's 8K race kicks off the meet at 9:45 a.m. CT followed by the women's 6K race at 10:45 a.m. CT at Ohio State University Golf Club.
