Minnesota held its annual 6K race in honor of Rochelle "Rocky" Racette at Les Bolstad Course on Sunday morning.
MINNEAPOLIS -- Libby Halbmaier led the Golden Gopher women's cross country team as the women's champion at Rocky's Run at Les Bolstad Course on Sunday morning. Drew Lannoye was the men's champion, and 81 total finishers took part in the annual open six-kilometer race.
Halbmaier posted a winning time of 23:03 as she earned her second finish as Minnesota's top runner in uniform this season and her third collegiate victory of her career. Behind Halbmaier, Bit Klecker was Minnesota's second runner and the second female finisher in 23:31. Elena Hayday (fifth) and Courtney West (sixth) also competed for the Gophers while Megan Lundstrom (third) and Ananya Vegesna (fourth) raced unattached.
About Rocky's Run
Rocky's Run was founded in 1981 to honor former Gopher runner Rochelle "Rocky" Racette, who died in a car accident that fall at the age of 22. While at the University of Minnesota, Racette was an All-American in track & field and cross country and champion of the Big Ten and Drake Relays 5,000-meter titles. The annual race is staged by the many members of the running community who knew and loved her. Racette's legacy lives on through the memory of those who knew her, and through Rocky's Run and the scholarship for which it raises money.
