Gopher Sports: How has your time on campus and team been so far?
Victor Perez: My time on campus so far has been nothing but amazing. Getting to know my teammates and coaches has been a great time. Working out with such a close team has really helped my gymnastics.

GS: What are you most looking forward to in your first school year and season?
VP: I am most looking forward to traveling with the team and competing for the university. I am used to gymnastics being an individual sport but I am excited to compete for something bigger than myself.

GS: Why did you choose the University of Minnesota?
VP: I chose the University of Minnesota because of the amazing team culture and coaching staff. I immediately had a connection with the team and they made me feel like I was a part of a family.

GS: How did you get into gymnastics?
VP: I got into gymnastics because my sister mentioned that I looked like I could be a gymnast. I was already flipping around the house so I thought I would try it. I was hooked from the start.

GS: What is you favorite gymnastics memory?
VP: My favorite gymnastics memory was definitely 2014 nationals in Long Beach, California. It was my first national competition ever and it really opened up my eyes to the future I could have going forward. It motivated me to want to compete at a college level.

GS: What are your hobbies outside of gymnastics?
VP: I like to hang out with friends, listen to music, and watch tv.

GS: What is one thing Gopher fans should know about you?
VP: I am beyond excited to get out there on the competition floor and I am ready for a great season!
