MINNEAPOLIS -- The University of Minnesota cross country team wraps up the 2019 regular season at a pair of meets this week. The Gopher men are set to close out the regular season at the St. John's Fall Finale in Collegeville, Minn., on Friday before the No. 26 Gopher women host Rocky's Run, an open 6K, at Les Bolstad Course on Sunday.

About the Fall Finale
St. John's hosts the eight-kilometer Fall Finale on Friday, Nov. 8 in Collegeville, Minn., at 4:30 p.m. CT. The Maroon & Gold are the defending team champions for the meet after scoring a perfect 15 one year ago while Khalid Hussein picked up the individual medal in 2018 as an unattached runner -- giving the Gophers their 12th-straight individual champion dating back to 2007.

About Rocky's Run
Members of the public are invited to join the Gophers for an open 6K race at Les Bolstad this weekend. Race-day registration begins at 9 a.m. CT with the 6K race to follow at 10:30 a.m. CT. The entry free to participate is $10, and for $20 participants receive race entry and a hat.

Rocky's Run was founded in 1981 to honor former Gopher runner Rochelle "Rocky" Racette, who died in a car accident that fall at the age of 22. While at the University of Minnesota, Racette was an All-American in track & field and cross country and champion of the Big Ten and Drake Relays 5,000-meter titles. The annual race is staged by the many members of the running community who knew and loved her. Racette's legacy lives on through the memory of those who knew her, and through Rocky's Run and the scholarship for which it raises money.

Last Time Out: Big Ten Championships
Anastasia Korzenowski and Alec Basten led the Gophers at the 2019 Big Ten Conference Cross Country Championships last weekend. The Gopher women placed seventh in the team race with 145 points led by Korzenowski's seventh-place individual showing as she led the Maroon & Gold for the fourth time this season in a career-best 20:27.6 for the six-kilometer course. The men's squad finished eighth in the team competition with 193 points, led by Basten's 18th-place finish. The redshirt junior, who finished the eight-kilometer course in 24:27.3, has now led the Maroon & Gold in each of his three races this season.
