‘U’ Brings Home Six Titles from Power Five Invitational

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – The University of Minnesota track & field program picked up six event titles on the track over the weekend at the Power Five Invitational with three wins coming on the men's side and three on the women's side.
The Maroon & Gold women claimed victories in the 60 meters, the one mile and the 3,000 meters while the men picked up wins in the 3,000 meters, the 600 meters and the 4x400 meter relay.
Bethany Hasz won the mile with a time of 4:42.79, less than a second off her career-best time, in her first mile race of the season while Megan Hasz took home top honors in the 3,000 meters with a time of 9:31.63.
Amira Young led the way in the sprints, winning the 60-meter dash in a career-best 7.39 seconds and moving into second on Minnesota's all-time list. She also placed third in the 200m in a career-best 24.31 seconds, tied for sixth among all-time Gophers.
Ben Psicihulis led the way for the Maroon & Gold men, picking up an individual title in the 600 meters on Friday and then helping the 4x400 meter relay team close out the meet with a win on Saturday. Psicihulis teamed up with Elliott Davis, Zach Nelson and Jonathan Webb to clock a winning time of 3:11.21. Davis (400 meters), Nelson (60-meter dash) and Webb (200 meters) added top-10 finishes of their own in other events.
Owen Hoeft added a win in the men's 3,000 meters with a time of 8:20.81 as the Gophers swept the men's and women's 3,000 meter events on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Kieran McKeag added another personal record in the weight throw finishing third at 21.43 meters (70-03.75 ft.). McKeag, who led a 3-4-5 finish in the event for the Gophers with Jon Nerdal and Kaleb Siekmeier, improved his position on Minnesota's all-time top performers list by climbing to fourth.
Additionally, Minnesota's 4x400-meter relay team of Sophia Anderson, Rachel Schow, Amira Young, and Erin Huls finished third in 3:44.87.In the shot put, Kiley Sabin placed third with a throw of 16.75m (54-11.50) while Tess Keyzers finished fourth and moved into 10th in Gophers history with a mark of 15.40m (50-06.25).
Other top performances for the Gopher women saw Lorean Murray place third in triple jump (12.05m, 39-06.50) and Hannah Morris finish fourth in long jump (5.79m, 19-00.00). Patty O'Brien used a career-best time of 9:39.00 to place fourth in the 3,000m as well. For the men, Mason Roomes finished third in the long jump at 7.17 meters (23-06.25 ft.) and added a third-place finish in the triple jump at 13.83 meters (45-04.50 ft.) while Sammie Houston finished third at 14.58 meters (47-10.00 ft.). Jonathan Tharaldsen and Jordan MacIntosh added fourth-place finishes in the shot put and the mile, respectively.
