STARTING FIVE
• The Minnesota men's basketball team continues a challenging stretch of five ranked foes in six games, hosting Wisconsin Wednesday night. It's the first time the Gophers have faced three straight ranked opponents since the end of the 2014-15 regular season.
• The Gophers are seeking their first season sweep of the Badgers since 2009 after the road win, 59-52, on Jan. 3.
• As of February 5, junior guard Amir Coffey is third in the Big Ten averaging 19.2 points per game in Big Ten contests. Coffey has reached double figures in all but one Big Ten game, including a career-high 32 points against Nebraska. Coffey crossed the 1,000-point mark on Sunday at Purdue, becoming the 10th player in program history to do so during their junior season.
• Senior forward Jordan Murphy is second in Big Ten play in rebounding, pulling down 10.5 boards per game, and leads in overall rebounding with 11.8 rebounds per game on the season, fourth in the nation. His 1,170 career rebounds ranks second in Big Ten Conference history, after passing Joe Barry Carroll for second place. Murphy became the 10th player in Big Ten history with 1,500+ points and 1,000+ career rebounds. Additionally, Murphy broke Jim Brewer's 45-year old school record for career double-doubles, and now has 58. Murphy was named the Big Ten Co-Player of the Week on Jan. 28.
• Senior guard Dupree McBrayer now ranks 12th all-time at Minnesota in career assists (290), and 14th with 113 career three‐pointers made. He is 13th in three-pointers attempted (334). McBrayer is just four points shy of becoming the 44th Gopher player to reach the 1,000-point mark in his career. Teammate Brock Stull is just five points away from 1,000 career points between his time at Milwaukee and Minnesota.
SCOUTING THE BADGERS
• Wisconsin comes to the Barn on a recent tear, having won five straight games. The Badgers have been idle for five days after defeating Maryland, 69-61, last Friday night in Madison.
• Ethan Happ continues to power the Badgers on offense, averaging 18.5 points, 10.3 rebounds and 5.1 assists per game. He has posted 14 double-doubles on the year, second in the conference behind Minnesota's Jordan Murphy, and is the only player in the nation to record two triple-doubles this season.
UP NEXT
• The Gophers face a pair of road opponents next, starting with a trip to ninth-ranked Michigan State on Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. CT, the lone meeting between the teams. ESPN will televise the game live.
