Gophers Rout Rutgers on the Road

The Gophers snapped the undefeated home streak of Rutgers to kick off the B1G season
Minnesota walked away with an impressive 6-1 road victory over the Rutgers Scarlet Knights to kick off the Big Ten season. With this win the Gophers move to 8-6, 1-1 on the season while simultaneously snapping Rutgers clean slate at home.
Doubles
Doubles continued to be the focal point of the Gophers' game plan as they rushed to victories out of the No. 1 and No. 2 spots. The tandem of Tina Kreinis and Tiffany Huber wrapped up first with a 6-1 win in the middle position while the leading combination of Cammy Frei and Caitlyn Merzbacher cleaned things up with a 6-2 finish to put the Gophers ahead 1-0.
Singles
Building from previous struggles, the Maroon and Gold wasted no time making a statement in singles play. The bottom half of the lineup saw some changes as Juliet Zhang and River Hart rounded out the No. 5 and No. 6 positions respectively. However, before most even reached the second set, Bita Mancera powered through to a dominating 6-0, 6-1 win to move her season singles record to 11-2. Zhang extended the lead to 3-0 with a straight-set win from the No. 5 position as Tina Kreinis clinched the team win with 6-1, 6-4 victory.
"I think everyone today knew we weren't going to play our best with our first conference match outside, but we adapted and excelled at what we can control and played great as a result," Kreinis added.

After knocking off the Scarlet Knights, the Gophers hit the road to face off with Maryland on Mar. 17 at 11am CT. Minnesota's grueling schedule continues as they have a quick stop home after the Terps to match up against Indiana before packing their bags for their next three against Michigan, Penn State, and Ohio State.
