Big Ten Honors 101 Gophers with Academic All-B1G Accolades

MINNEAPOLIS – The Big Ten Conference has honored 101 University of Minnesota student-athletes for their work in the classroom with Academic All-Big Ten accolades, the organization announced on Wednesday. Representing eight winter programs, the 101 Gophers achieved success by meeting the following criteria -- students must be in at least their second academic year at their institution and carry a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Women's swimming & diving paced the Gophers with 23 honorees, followed by men's swimming & diving with 18, men's hockey with 17, wrestling with 14, women's gymnastics with 10, men's gymnastics with 10, women's basketball with six and men's basketball with three.
Mariam Khamis (women's swimming & diving) led the way for the Maroon & Gold, posting an unblemished 4.0 cumulative GPA for the second-straight year while University of Minnesota student-athletes across all sports recorded the school's highest cumulative GPA last fall at 3.28.
