Minnesota Finishes Eleventh at 2019 NCAA Championships

At the conclusion of four days of competition and 21 events, the University of Minnesota women's swimming and diving team has finished in eleventh place with 158.5 points at the 2019 NCAA Championships. Every Gophers student-athlete has earned either All-American or Honorable Mention All-American honors over the course of the meet.
Chantal Nack qualified for the consolation finals of the 200 Backstroke after swimming a prelim time of 1:52.80. She earned Honorable Mention All-American honors when she raced a 1:52.34 in the finals to take 12th in the event. Tevyn Waddell touched the wall in 1:53.90 to finish 27th overall in the 200 Back.
Mackenzie Padington showed Minnesota distance's prowess as she finished the 1650 Freestyle in 15:47.16 to take third place and earn All-American Honors. This is her second bronze-medal finish of this year's championships.
Kristen Hayden pulled in a five-dive score of 246.45 in today's Platform Diving prelims to take 20th place in the final diving competition of the championships.

The Minnesota Men's swimming and diving team will have their turn on the national stage this upcoming week as they travel to the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center for the 2019 Men's NCAA Championship meet from Mar. 27-30. Two swimmers and three divers will compete as individuals and three additional Gophers will participate in relays.
