Weather Delays Don't Slow Gophers at B1G Double Dual

IOWA CITY, Iowa – The Gopher Rowing team competed against some of the best the conference has to offer at the Big Ten Double Dual against No. 11 Wisconsin, No. 13 Iowa, and No. 20 Indiana at Lake McBride on Saturday.
Minnesota (R.V.) went head-to-head with Indiana in the morning session, but the day began with a pair of three-team races. The 2 Novice 8 crew opened the day with a victory for the Gophers, finishing at 8:51.1, and the 3 Varsity 4 followed that up with a second-place finish, 0:17.67 behind the first-place Badger at 8:48.25.
The Maroon & Gold crews grabbed another first-place finish in the 2V4, finishing at 8:24.56, 0:09.34 ahead of the Hoosiers.
The afternoon session saw the teams return to the water after a weather delay of nearly three hours. Minnesota took 4-of-6 head-to-head races from the host Hawkeyes, with the V4 crews sweeping. The 1V4 finished at 8:46.52, beating Iowa by 0:20.98. The 2V4 finished even stronger at 8:43.79, 0:57.56 ahead of the home team. The Gophers' 2V8 edged out a victory with a time of 7:27.47 (-0:04.22), and the 1N8 won by a similar margin, finishing at 7:47.60 (-0:04.68).
Minnesota competes at next weekend's Clemson Regatta on Lake Hartwell in Clemson, South Carolina on Friday and Saturday.
