MINNEAPOLIS – The Minnesota men's golf team wraps up its regular season this weekend at the Hawkeye Invitational in Iowa City, Iowa.

Hosted by Iowa, the tournament is taking place at the Finkbine Golf Course, which is playing at 6,884 yards and is a par-71. Minnesota is one of 12 teams set to compete this weekend and is one of three Big Ten teams, along with Iowa and Wisconsin.

The teams will play two rounds on Saturday, beginning with a 9 a.m. shotgun start. Sunday features a final round of 18 holes with another shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. CT. Live scoring will be available on Golfstat.com.

This will be Minnesota's eighth straight season competing at the Hawkeye Invitational. A year ago, the Golden Gophers tied for sixth as the tournament was shortened to 36 holes due to rain. Then-senior Riley Johnson led the way for Minnesota as he tied for eighth.

Representing Minnesota at the event this year will be junior Thomas Longbella, sophomores Angus FlanaganEvan Long and Gus Minkin, and freshmen Will GrevlosLincoln Johnson and Harry Plowman-Ollington.

The competing group represents the team's top six scorers so far this spring, while Flanagan (72.14), Johnson (72.92), Long (73.76) and Longbella (74.17) are the team's top four scorers combined for spring and fall. Johnson, Long and Plowman-Ollington have each played in all three tournaments so far this spring for the Gophers.

Last weekend, Minnesota posted its best round of the tournament in Sunday's final round to finish in sixth place out of 13 teams at the 43rd annual Rutherford Intercollegiate in State College, Pa. It marked the sixth time in eight tournaments this season that the Gophers' best round came on the final day of competition.

For the third time this season, Johnson was the top finisher for Minnesota. That number ranks second on the team behind only Flanagan, who has done it five times. Johnson was 1-over Sunday with a 72, but still moved up five spots to end in a tie for 16th place with a 4-over 217. It was his second top-20 finish of the spring and his team-leading third of the season.
