The "M" Club celebrated Hall of Fame members with a weekend celebration
Last month the "M" Club honored Hall of Fame members with a weekend celebration. Hall of Fame members kicked off the weekend with a "Meet and Greet Social Hour" at JD Hoyt's in Minneapolis. The following day Hall of Fame members were invited to attend the Gopher football game vs Georgia Southern where they were honored on field.
Special guest speakers included Hall of Fame members Karie (Ploof) Tuttle and Omar Douglas.
An outstanding all-around gymnast for the Golden Gophers, Karie Tuttle had one of the most successful seasons in women's gymnastics history. During that 1982 season, she was the Big Ten balance beam champion and took fifth place in the all around at the Big Ten Championships. When she ended her career Tuttle held the school and Big Ten record on the balance beam with a score of 9.5.
While quite successful as a Big Ten sprinter, Douglas' name is most often associated with breaking almost every program receiving record – game, season and career – during his time on the gridiron. Even today, Douglas' 11 receiving touchdowns in 1993 remains the program's single-season record, and his five touchdowns against Purdue that season is tied for the most in Big Ten history.
Congratulations to all our Hall of Fame members!
An induction into the Hall of Fame will occur in 2020.
