The University of Minnesota is set to open the home season on Saturday when the No. 7 Florida Gators come to town. Match time is set for 7 p.m., at Maturi Pavilion. Ā

ABOUT FLORIDAĀ Ā Ā
No. 7 Florida enters the Minnesota match with a 2-1 record. The Gators opened the season with a 3-0 win over Louisville, and followed with a 3-2 victory over Dayton. Thayer Hall leads the team with 45 kills and averages 4.09 kills per set. Paige Hammons, Rachael Kramer and Holly Carlton follow with 19 kills. Kramer also averages 1.09 blocks per set. Allie Gregory leads the team with 40 digs, and Marlie Monserez has 100 assists. As a team, the Gators are hitting .220 and average 11.73 kills per set.Ā

Both Minnesota and Florida played Wednesday night and both fell to ranked teams in 3-0 fashion. The Gophers fell to No. 3 Texas in Austin, Texas, 22-25, 27-29, 33-35. No. 1 Stanford defeated Florida in Gainesville, Fla., 25-22, 25-17, 25-19.

Minnesota is back on the road next weekend when it faces Oregon and Stanford as a part of the Big Ten/Pac 12 Challenge, hosted by Penn State, Sept. 13-14. Minnesota's next home event is Sept. 19 when it hosts the annual Diet Coke Classic.Ā
