Gophers Place Second at Elevate the Stage

TOLEDO, OHIO - The No. 7 University of Minnesota Women's gymnastics team took second at Big Fives at Elevate the Stage this evening. Minnesota finished behind Michigan, who won the Big Ten Regular Season title. The Gophers earned an overall team score of 196.650 to Michigan's program-best 197.950.
Minnesota moves to 7-2 overall and 5-1 in the Big Ten

Penn State - 196.125
Michigan State - 195.975
Maryland - 195.325
The Gophers started their night with a bye, moving to floor, vault, bars and beam.
Notable
Ramler won a share of the event title on beam, tying for first with Natalie Wojcik of Michigan. Ramler also placed second on bars and in the all-around.

"It was a solid performance for us tonight," head coach Jenny Hansen said. "We had to battle tonight. We've been dealing with some sickness. This is going to give us a lot of motivation and help us get better moving forward."
All-Around
Lexy Ramler finished second in the all-around with a score of 39.525. Tiarre Sales earned a fifth place finish with a 39.325.
Floor
The team posted their second-best score of the season on floor with a 49.300. Minnesota tied with Maryland for the second best score on floor of the night.
On their best event of the night, the Gophers had five gymnasts score a 9.800 or higher. Ali Sonier started the Gophers off strong with a 9.800, while Sales posted a new career-high on the event with a 9.850.Ona Loper, Paige Williams and Halle Remlinger all posted 9.875s to tie for 11th.
Vault
Minnesota posted a team score of 40.075. Maddie Quarles posted a 9.900 to tie her career-high and lead the Gophers on the event. Quarles was in a six-way tie for fourth place overall. Ramler and Sales posted a pair of 9.850s to tie for 14th.
Bars
Minnesota posted a 49.225 for the third best team score on the event of the night. Kristen Quaglia led-off for Minnesota with a 9.800. The team finished with three-straight 9.800+ from Sales (9.875), Lu (9.850) and Ramler (9.925). Ramler's score put her in a three-way tie for second.
Beam
The Maroon and Gold posted a 49.050 for the second highest score on the event, trailing only behind Michigan's 49.425. Ramler's team-best 9.975 tied her for first on the event. Sonier (9.800) and Loper (9.825) put up the next best scores for Minnesota
