Partain Launches Gophers to Victory

Fresh off making SportsCenter's Top-10 for a highlight play last night, MaKenna Partain lifted the Gophers to a 3-1 victory over Tulsa to close out the Baylor Tournament today.
The Gophers trailed 1-0 going into the bottom of the fifth and had yet to place a hit in the game. With one out on the board, Josey White lined a shot back at the pitcher for a single. Ali Lindner came in to run for her and advanced to second as freshman Kianna Jones battled to a walk.
Partain stepped up with two outs on the board later in the frame. On a full count, she skimmed a home run off the wall in right to move the Gophers into the lead.
The two fifth innings hits would be all the Gophers mustered all game, but it proved to be enough. Amber Fiser pitched four innings and only allowed two hits and one run. Autumn Pease shut it down the next three innings and picked up the victory to move to 3-1 on the season. She only allowed two hits with a pair of strikeouts.
The Gophers move to 8-6 on the season after a 3-2 weekend down in Waco, Texas.

On the fifth inning home run… "It started with Josey (White) hitting the single back to the pitcher," Partain said. "Then we got the walk. I just happened to get a good ball, put a good swing on it and it carried over."
