MINNEAPOLIS - The University of Minnesota women's tennis team would earn their fourth weekend sweep with a win over Mizzou today at Baseline Tennis Center. The Gophers defeated the Tigers in a 4-3 victory to claim redemption from last year's loss.

Ekin Ercetin, River Hart and Tina Kreinis all had major singles wins to put the Gophers out on top. Hart and Kreinis would tally two wins each, one coming from doubles and one coming from singles.

DOUBLES
The Gophers were the dominant force during Sunday's round of doubles. Tina Kreinis and Cammy Frei defeated the Tiger's top tandem of Serena Nash and Gabrielle Goldin 6-2. Claiming the point, Juliet Zhang and River Hart collected the win 6-4 over Marta Oliveira and Vivien Abraham.

SINGLES
The singles competition proved to be a battle for Minnesota, but they came out of it victorious. Ekin Ercetin got the Maroon and Gold up on the board early with an easy 6-2, 6-4 win. Clinching her second point of the day, River Hart came back from behind to win 1-6, 6-3, 6-2.

The Tigers would capitalize on three singles wins to tie up the score. Dalila Said fell in a close tiebreaker match while Tiffany Huber and Cammy Frei lost in their third sets. Finishing it off for Minnesota, Tina Kreinis got the 4-3 win for the Gophers. In the No. 2 singles spot, she downed Serena Nash 4-6, 6-2, 6-0.

NOTABLE
Tina Kreinis' win lifts the Gophers to a 10-2 record on the 2020 season. Undefeated at home with a nine game win streak, Minnesota has now won 19 of their last 20 matches at Baseline.

Both Kreinis and River Hart notched a doubles and singles win for the Gophers. Helping run up the score alongside them, Ekin Ercetin took control of her match to earn another point.

QUOTABLE
"I felt really nervous at first, knowing that I was the clinching match, but I also felt excited and very prepared," said Tina Kreinis on her winning match." I knew that I had put in the time in practice and I knew I had a team and coaches that believed in me so I just needed to believe in myself. Our most important goal in preparation for this weekend was coming together, feeding off of each other, and staying united as a team. I fed off of my teammates and coaches all week and weekend, so that was really helpful during the match."

"We knew coming into this weekend we were going to be faced with two tough teams," said head coach Catrina Thompson. "To come away 2-0 on the weekend is a big credit to the way the team competed especially River, Ekin and Tina today."

UP NEXT
The Golden Gophers will hit the road next weekend for a match against the University of Colorado on Sunday, March 1 at 1:00pm CT. Minnesota will return home for Big Ten play on March 6 and 7 with matches against Rutgers and Boarder Battle rival, Wisconsin.
