MINNEAPOLIS -- The Golden Gophers travel to Geneva, Ohio, for the 2020 Big Ten Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships this Friday and Saturday.
About the Big Ten Championships
The 2020 Big Ten Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships are set for this Friday and Saturday at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio. Action begins Friday at 9:50 a.m. with the pentathlon 60-meter hurdles while day two competition kicks off at 10 a.m. with the heptathlon 60-meter hurdles. BTN+ and FloTrack will provide live coverage of the competition.
Last Time Out: Minnesota Cold Classic
The Gophers wrapped up their indoor home slate by hosting the Minnesota Cold Classic last weekend. The Gophers combined for 16 titles behind eight event wins on the men's side and eight on the women's side, and the team honored its 39 seniors at the Minnesota Fieldhouse.
Week Five National Rankings
The Gopher men climbed to No. 16 in the country while the Minnesota women checked in at No. 22 in the nation according to the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) week five NCAA Division I Indoor Track & Field National Rating Index.
2019 Big Ten Championships Rewind
The Gopher women finished seventh at the 2019 B1G Indoor Championships with 60 points led by All-Big Ten Second Team honorees Tess Keyzers (weight throw) and Val Larson (600 meters). Last season saw the Gopher men finish ninth with 36 points led by third-place finishes from Jonathan Tharaldsen (shot put) and Obsa Ali (5,000 meters).
Track & Field Captains
On the men's side, Alec Basten, Kieran McKeag, Jackson Wellenstein, Teddy Frid, and Jonathan Tharaldsen will lead the squad in 2020 while Rachel Schow, Ayesha Champagnie, Erin Huls, Abby Kohut-Jackson, Ryan Crotty, and Val Larson will serve as captains on the women's side.

The NCAA Indoor Championships will be held in Albuquerque, N.M., Friday March 13 and Saturday, March 14.
