Gophers Earn Fourth Straight Meet Win

The No. 6 University of Minnesota took down Iowa with a score of 196.825 to 196.175. The Gophers earned their fourth-straight meet win to improve to 6-1 overall and 4-0 in the Big Ten. Iowa drops to 4-5 overall and 1-3 in the Big Ten.

The Gophers swept the podium on both bars and vault, while earning three podium finishes between beam and floor.

Noteable
Tiarre Sales competed in the all-around for the first time in her collegiate career, notching a score of 39.300 to take second. Sales also competed on vault for the first time this season, putting up a 9.825 to take third.

Quoteable
"Proud of another great team win tonight," head coach Jenny Hansen said. "We are seeing improvements in different areas. We weren't quite as sharp tonight as we have been in the past. Overall it was a really good night for us and we are excited to keep it going when we host Nebraska next weekend."

All-Around
Coming off a Big Ten Gymnast of the Week title, Ona Loper won the all-around for the third straight week with a 39.400. Sales took second (39.300) and Lexy Ramler finished third (38.700).

Vault
The Gophers started their night on vault and swept the podium. Senior Paige Williams and redshirt freshman Maddie Quarles split first place with a score of 9.850, while Junior Ramler and Sales shared third (9.825).

Uneven Bars
Minnesota again swept the podium on bars, with four gymnasts taking shares of first and third place. Loper and senior Ivy Lu shared the bars gold with a score of 9.875, and senior Kristen Quaglia and Sales claimed third (9.825).

Balance Beam
Lu was the top finisher of the night on beam with a score of 9.925. Loper was the next-best gymnast for the Gophers on beam and posted a score of 9.825 for fourth place, which she shared with teammate Sales. Senior Mary Korlin-Downs took seventh with a mark of 9.800.

Floor
Loper earned another podium finish on the night when she took second on floor with a 9.900. She has scored a 9.900 or higher in the last four meets on the event. For the second week in a row, Halle Remlinger and Willams have earned a spot on the podium. The two tied for third with a pair of 9.875sm while Ramler tied her season-high of 9.875 on the night to tie with Remlinger and Williams.

The Gophers host an exciting matchup against Big Ten rival Nebraska. The action will take place on Sunday, Feb. 16 at 6:30 p.m. CT. The meet will be televised on the Big Ten Network. It will be the Gophers' first time on TV this season.
