MINNEAPOLIS - The Cali Condors of the International Swimming League announced Wednesday that Gopher alumnus Bowe Becker will join their roster for the upcoming 2020 season.
With Wednesday's announcement, Becker becomes the fifth Gopher alumni to earn a spot on an ISL roster, joining Kierra Smith (LA Current), Conner McHugh (DC Trident), Lindsey Kozelsky (DC Trident) and Tevyn Waddell (NY Breakers) who were all announced the week prior. This will be Becker's second season in the ISL, as the 2018 graduate competed for the Cali Condors as well during the ISL's debut season in 2019.
Becker swam for the Maroon & Gold from 2015-19, in which time the Las Vegas, Nev. native amassed an impressive three All-American awards, five Honorable Mention All-American accolades, three top-four NCAA Championships performances, three individual Big Ten Conference Championship victories and an incredible seven spots on the Gophers record boards.
A consistent point scorer for the Gophers throughout his career, Becker truly found his stride in his junior campaign, taking home a gold and silver medal from the 2018 Big Ten Championships in the 100 and 50 free events, respectively. At the following 2018 NCAA Championships hosted at the Jean K. Freeman Aquatics Center, Becker translated that success into a medal on the national stage as he took third overall in the 50 free (18.90).
His senior season saw even more impressive results from Becker as he swept the individual freestyle sprint events at the 2019 Big Ten Championships. Again, Becker would carry his success with him to the national stage, earning silver in the 100 free (40.83) and touching fourth in the 50 free (18.84).
Becker impressed in the classroom as well, finishing his collegiate career as a two-time Academic All-B1G honoree.
