Gophers to Compete at Pat Bradley Invitational

MINNEAPOLIS -- The University of Minnesota women's golf team travels to the Pat Bradely Invitational, held at the Lakewood Ranch Golf Club in Lakewood, Fla.
The 54-hole tournament will be played from Oct. 16-18, with 18-hole rounds each day. The Oct. 17 and 18 rounds will be played with tee times, starting on holes 1 and 10, while Monday's final round will be a shotgun start.
An Arnold Palmer-designed course, the Cypress Links course offers a traditional layout with large lacy-shaped bunkers and twenty lakes to enhance the beauty.
Minnesota will compete in a field of 15 teams including Boston College, Daytona State, Eastern Michigan, Florida Atlantic, Florida Gulf Coast, Florida International, Georgia State, Jacksonville, James Madison, Northern Illinois, Stetson, UTEP, UTRGV and Western Kentucky.
In the lineup for the Gophers is Geraldine Wong, Grace Curran, Joanne Free, Emma Carpenter and Leah Herzog.
Wong was the top finisher for the Gophers in their most recent action at the Golfweek Challenge. Wong tied for third place individually out of 104 competitors for her career-best overall finish and third best 36 hole score of her career (68-73-141). She led the Gophers and tied for eighth in the field for birdies with nine. Wong earned Big Ten Golfer of the Week honors for her performance.
Curran followed closely behind in a tie for 17th at even-par for the tournament (68-76--144). After a difficult opening round, Free rebounded with a strong performance in the second round to finish at 9-over for the tournament in a tie for 73rd (80-73--153). Also finishing in a tie for 73rd was Carpenter (75-78--153). Herzog finished in 103rd (79-89--168).
