Seven different Gophers lit the lamp for the second straight game to propel the 'U' to a 7-1 win on Saturday evening.

Minneapolis, Minn. -- The No. 3 Golden Gopher women's hockey team used goals from seven different Gophers to surge past RIT 7-1 on Saturday evening at Ridder Arena.

Minnesota (9-3-0) posted a program record-tying 72 shots in the 7-1 victory over RIT (0-14-0). Senior Taylor Heise kicked off the scoring with her fourth goal of the weekend, while Madeline Wethington followed up with her second of the season to send the Gophers into the first intermission up 2-0. Goals from Catie Skaja, Peyton Hemp, and Emma Conner extended the lead to 5-0. The goal was Conner's first of her career. RIT got on the board early in the third with their first and only goal of the series. Emily Oden and Savannah Norcross, for the first time at Ridder Arena, scored to put a stamp on the victory. The Gophers outshot the Tigers 72-8 in Saturday's contest and 131-20 over the weekend.

Skylar Vetter got the start and earned her second career win. Lauren Bench and Olivia King each entered the game for a period. Tigers' netminder Taylor Liotta made a program record 65 saves in the loss.

Quotable
"Another great game tonight," said head coach Brad Frost. "I thought our team played a complete team game. Emma Conner with her first goal as a Gopher was pretty exciting. All-in-all, we were continuing to get better as the weekend went along. We're excited about the sweep and are getting ready for St. Cloud next week."

Notable
Freshman Emma Conner scored her first career and earned first-star honors. Taylor Heise extended her point streak to ten games with a goal and an assist. The Gophers 72 shots tied a program record set on Feb. 23, 1999.
