Greseth will work his 1,000th career regular-season game on Saturday night at 3M Arena at Mariucci.

MINNEAPOLIS -- A member of the Gopher men's hockey staff will reach a significant career milestone on Saturday night as equipment manager Lee Greseth will work his 1,000th regular-season NCAA game, according to the Society of Professional Hockey Equipment Managers.

A native of Rochester, Minn., Greseth is in 29th season as a full-time equipment manager between Minnesota, Denver, North Dakota, Alaska Anchorage and Colorado College. A University of Minnesota letter winner as a student manager under Doug Woog, Greseth is in his 13th season with the Maroon & Gold since returning to the Gophers in 2009.

"Lee is just a kind-hearted man, if you've been around him. He works extremely hard, and I sure hope our guys treat him with utmost respect because he's earned it," Minnesota head coach Bob Motzko said. "He goes about his business as efficiently and as quiet as any guy I've been around."

Greseth's contributions to the Gopher Hockey program aren't lost among those in the locker room either.

"Lee is the unsung hero of Gopher Hockey, and we are so lucky to have him. He runs this place like a candy shop with everything you could ever want or need, and he does an incredible job of taking care of everyone in the program," team captain Jack LaFontaine said. "He's a guy who is always around when you need him, and he always has a smile on his face. He's so respected and well liked, he's just such a character, and I love him to death."

The Society of Professional Hockey Equipment Managers records only regular-season contests as a full-time staff member. Exhibition games and conference and NCAA tournament games do not factor into game totals.
