Quotable
"We'll get some lessons learned and move on," head coach Hugh McCutcheon said. "It's hard to imagine we'd run the gamut in the Big Ten season where you're playing back-to-back against the best teams in the country. As tough as it is to lose a match, the sting will fade and there's a really good opportunity to learn some lessons mid-season rather than wait until the end of the year."
Notable
-The Gophers are now 10-36 all time against the Huskers, dating back to 1975.
-Minnesota's season split marked the third time under the McCutcheon era that the Gophers have gone 1-1 against Nebraska in a single season. Minnesota/Nebraska both won a match in 2012, 2016 and now in 2021. The Huskers won both matches in 2013, while Minnesota won both matches in 2018. The two teams met only once the following years: 2014 (Nebraska win), 2015 (Minnesota win), 2017 (Nebraska win), 2019 (Nebraska win). McCutcheon began his collegiate coaching career in 2012.
