Trio of Gophers Set to Travel to Indianapolis for Winter Cup

Minnesota men's gymnastics members Shane Wiskus, Mike Moran, and Crew Bold are all set to travel to Indianapolis, Ind. for the 2021 USA Gymnastics Winter Cup at the Indiana Convention Center.
The Winter Cup is an annually held meet that features both collegiate and senior gymnasts from around the country and serves as qualifying for the US Olympic Team Trials later this year in June. This marks the fourth time that Wiskus will head to the Winter Cup as a member of the Maroon & Gold, with it also being the second time of Mike Moran's senior career and the first time of Crew Bold's career.
The Winter Cup: Senior Men's Competition will stretch over two days, with the first day of competition starting at 6:30 p.m. CST on Friday, Feb. 26. Those who qualify for event finals will compete on Sunday, Feb. 28 starting at 4:30 p.m. CST. The top 28 senior performers based on the 10-point system on Friday will advance to the final day of competition. A range of 1 to 11 points are awarded to athletes who finish in the top 10 on any given event.
For Wiskus, this marks an important meet for him to maintain his spot on the U.S. Senior National Team, as the top six all-arounders from Friday's competition will automatically earn spots, and an additional six team members will be named at the conclusion of the finals session on Sunday. Wiskus is coming off of last year's Winter Cup performance, where he ultimately placed 2nd in the all-around competition.
Now a junior with the Maroon & Gold, Moran is currently ranked as the No. 11 all-arounder in the nation by Road to Nationals, and is looking to improve off of his 17th place finish in the all-around competition at last year's Winter Cup in Las Vegas.
In his second year with the Gophers, Crew Bold enters his first career Winter Cup as a senior gymnast holding national rankings on high bar (T-No. 3), parallel bars (No. 23), and still rings (T-No. 38).
Friday's opening session of competition will be available for fans to watch on NBCSN or NBCSports.com, while Sunday's Event Finals will be available on FloGymnastics.com (payment required). All routines from the NBC and NBCSN sessions will be available following the event on the USA Gymnastics YouTube channel linked above. MyUSAGym will provide live stats for the event.
