Curran Among Top-15 After Second Round in Florida

Sophomore Grace Curran completed 18 holes at par to lead the Minnesota women's golf team on the second day of the Florida State Match-Up, hosted by the Seminoles in Tallahassee, Fla. As a team, the Gophers (313-303--616) improved by 10 strokes and moved up to 12th place in the tournament.
"Overall we had a better scoring day, taking 10 strokes off in comparison to round one and besting six other teams on the day, but we still have work to do," head coach Rhyll Brinsmead said. "Our first three and last three holes are where we tend to struggle, so we're continuing to work through this as a team. Grace Curran played a solid round today and has poised herself well for a potential top-10 finish in a stacked field. We're looking forward to the final round and I'm confident we can pick up some quality wins with a low round."
Curran currently is tied for 13th (76-72--148) after her stellar second round. Senior Joanne Free (77-76--153) is tied for 37th in the field. Sophomores Annabelle Ackroyd (83-77--160) and Emma Carpenter (77-83--160) are in a lock for 60th. Senior Grace Kellar (83-78--161) is just one stroke behind the duo and finishes the day tied for 63rd.
The Florida State Match-Up will conclude Sunday with a 7:00 a.m. CT start for the third and final round.
