The University of Minnesota softball team has announced its 2021 schedule, playing the early weeks in Florida, Feb. 26-28 and March 11-14, before returning to college campuses the weekend of March 26.

The Florida games will be held in Leesburg, Fla., at the Sleepy Hollow Sports Complex. Minnesota opens the season playing six games in three days. The Gophers will play doubleheaders against Maryland (Feb. 26), Ohio State (Feb. 27) and Indiana (Feb. 28). Minnesota returns to Florida March 11-14. The Gophers will play Rutgers on March 11-12 and Michigan State, March 13-14.

Following the Florida games, teams return to campus locations where these will be four-game series played over three days (Fri-Sun). Minnesota starts its campus schedule portion March 26-28 when it travels to Illinois.

For the first time in 678 days, Minnesota will play a collegiate softball game at Jane Sage Cowles when the Gophers host the Purdue Boilermakers, April 2-4. The Gophers' last home game dates back to May 25, 2019 when Minnesota hosted a 2019 Super Regional.

Minnesota then returns to road action on April 9-11 when it travels to Northwestern before hosting Nebraska, April 16-18. The Gophers are home for the second-straight week when Iowa comes to town, April 23-25. The Gophers got back on the road April 30-May 2 when they travel to Wisconsin. Minnesota closes out the home schedule portion when the Michigan Wolverines visit Jane Sage Cowles Stadium, May 7-9. The Gophers close out the season at Penn State, May 14-16. Unlike past years, there is no Big Ten Tournament hosted this year.

Times and streaming/broadcast information will be made available at a later date. Schedule is subject to change, be sure to check back to gophersports.com for more information.

At this time, Minnesota Department of Health guidelines specify that all venues must reduce occupant capacity to no more than 25%, not to exceed 250 patrons (outdoor venues) or 150 patrons (indoor venues). There will be no general public ticket sales for Gopher Softball home games as all Big Ten institutions have agreed to limit attendance to immediate families of competing student-athletes and coaches/team staff.
