Wiskus Named Big Ten Co-Gymnast of the Week

Senior Shane Wiskus has been named the Co-Gymnast of the Week by the Big Ten Conference following his performance at the 2021 Winter Cup this past weekend. This marks the ninth time Wiskus has received the honor, with the last time coming on Mar. 3, 2020. Wiskus shares this week's title with Cameron Bock of Michigan.
In Friday's all-around competition, Wiskus was able to retain his spot on the US Senior National Team by scoring fourth overall with a score of 81.250. Also in Friday's competition, Wiskus finished in the top five in three of the six events he competed in, including a No. 3 finish on parallel bars.
Wiskus then had a huge day for the Gophers at Sunday's Winter Cup event finals, where he finished on the podium for five of the six events he competed in. Of the five podiums, Wiskus earned one first place finish on floor exercise (28.550), second place finishes on parallel bars (27.750) and high bar (27.100), and tied for third on both still rings (28.000) and vault (28.400).
Wiskus and the Gophers will be back in action this weekend as they prepare to host Penn State for the Maroon & Gold's Senior Day. The meet is set to start at 12:00 p.m. CST on Saturday, Mar. 6 at Maturi Pavilion.
