After the win, a ranked matchup with the Iowa Hawkeyes awaits.

LINCOLN, Neb. - The University of Minnesota men's tennis team defeated the Nebraska Cornhuskers on Friday evening by a score of 5-2 in a match that saw three pivotal three-set wins in singles play.

The win pushes the Gophers to even on the year at 3-3 ahead of their ranked matchup against the Iowa Hawkeyes, while Nebraska still searches for their first win of the season after falling to 0-6 after the loss.

Doubles Play
Jackson Allen and Sebastian Vile started doubles action on the right foot with a dominant 6-1 victory over the Nebraska pairing of William Gleason and Victor Moreno Lozano.

After a loss from Kaleb Dobbs and Daniel Martin, Vlad Lobak and Siim Troost continued to impress in the No. 1 doubles slot, winning their match 6-4 in comeback fashion to clinch the doubles point for the Gophers.

Singles Play
The overall match victory can be credited to the third set singles play for the Gophers, as Minnesota was able to sweep all three of the pivotal three-set singles matches.

After Sebastian Vile dropped his debut match in the fourth slot in straight sets, Vlad Lobak answered with a straight set victory of his own against Nebraska's Brandon Perez.

Daniel Martin also dropped a tough match 6-4, 6-4, but that would be the last of the Gophers' losses as Jackson Allen, Siim Troost, and Dylan Heap all proved victorious in the third set to secure the match victory for the Gophers.

Notable:
A total of four Gophers made their season debuts in new lineup slots, with Vlad Lobak, Dylan Heap, Sebastian Vile, and Siim Troost all finding new homes in the starting grid.

The moves proved to be successful, as the four athletes went a combined 3-1 in Friday's action.

Quotable:
"Happy for the team tonight," head coach Geoff Young said. There were a couple very long, physical matches and it was great to see us in good shape to go the distance. Jackson Allen is leading this team to great heights during a very tumultuous year. During the week, and during the matches he has been simply a pleasure to watch. I hope the younger guys follow his lead. Vlad Lobak is also improving at a great rate. Happy to see the seniors taking over."

What's Next?
The Golden Gophers will head to Iowa City on Sunday afternoon in a ranked matchup against the No. 38 Iowa Hawkeyes, before coming back home for a four-match homestretch which starts next weekend.
