Gophers Wrap Up Competition at NCAA Zone Championships

MINNEAPOLIS - For the third day in a row at the 2021 NCAA Zone D Diving Championships, every competing Gopher made the cut for the afternoon's finals session in their respective events.
Leading the way for the women in the platform was freshman Megan Phillip, whose 10-dive score of 465.90 earned her a 13th place finish. Having already earned a spot at the national championships in the one-meter springboard during day one, she will still head to Greensboro later this month to represent the Maroon and Gold.
Sophomore Jake Butler headed the charge on the men's side of competition on day three, registering a 14th place finish (591.35) in the one-meter. Butler had previously qualified in the three-meter earlier this week to officially punch his ticket to the nation's top meet.
Alongside Butler in the afternoon's finals session was senior Duncan Lester, whose 12-dive score of 554.30 earned him an 18th place finish overall in the event.

The next time the Gophers will see the diving well will be alongside their swimming counterparts at their respective NCAA Championships later this month, both of which will be held in Greensboro, N.C. The women will compete from March 17-20, while the men's will be hosted the following week from March 24-27.
