Wiskus Tabbed by CGA as Specialist of the Week

Gopher men's gymnastics senior Shane Wiskus has been named the Specialist of the Week by the College Gymnastics Association following his performance at the 2021 Winter Cup this past weekend. Wiskus received the honor for his title winning performance on floor exercise.
Wiskus had a huge day for the Gophers at Sunday's Winter Cup event finals, where he finished on the podium for five of the six events he competed in. One of the five podiums for Wiskus came on floor exercise, where the Minnesota-native placed first in the event with a two day score of 28.550 on Sunday. Wiskus also recorded the highest score in the event for the whole weekend with a score of 14.550 during Sunday's event finals.
Thanks to his strong performance on floor exercise this weekend, Wiskus was able to retain his spot on the US Senior National Team by scoring fourth overall in the all-around competition with a score of 81.250. This marks the first time in his career that Wiskus has been named Specialist of the Week by the CGA, with the last Gopher to get the award being Donte McKinney on March 3, 2020.
Wiskus and the Gophers will be back in action this weekend as they prepare to host Penn State for the Maroon & Gold's Senior Day. The meet is set to start at 12:00 p.m. CST on Saturday, Mar. 6 at Maturi Pavilion.
