Gophers Up Lifetime Best Count to 25 after Day Three of B1G Championships

3/4/2021 6:22:00 PM | Men's Swimming & Diving

MINNEAPOLIS - With another day of lifetime bests and strong swims at the 2021 Big Ten Conference Championships officially wrapped up, the Minnesota men's swimming and diving program currently sits in ninth place with 287 points.

In his first individual event of the championships, senior team captain Tom Donker did not disappoint, claiming a spot in the 'B' final with his prelim NCAA 'B' cut time of 47.25. He'd climb three spots during the night session to record the Gophers best finish of the night in 13th (47.34).

Sawyer Grimes led an event once again for the Maroon and Gold, as the freshman touched 15th overall in the night's 400 individual medley in an NCAA 'B' cut and lifetime best time of 3:49.50. The performance marks Grimes' second 'B' cut of the Championships, having notched his first during Wednesday's 500 freestyle (4:19.53).

Alongside Grimes in the night's finals session of the 400 IM was fellow freshman Cameron Linder, who earned his first finals seed of the Championships by setting a lifetime best (3:53.22) of his own during the morning session. He'd ultimately finish 23rd overall in a time of 3:54.35.
