HEADING INTO THE WEEKEND
• No. 24 Minnesota is home for the second-straight weekend when it hosts Iowa, April 23-25, at Jane Sage Cowles Stadium. The weekend format is a single game on Friday, doubleheader on Saturday and a single game scheduled Sunday. All four games will be streamed on BTN Plus.
• The Golden Gophers are coming off a series win over Nebraska last weekend. It marked the fourth-straight series win as Big Ten teams returned to campus sites. Minnesota has won 10 of its past 12 and are 19-3 in their last 22 contests.
• Following the series win over Nebraska, Sara Kinch was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week. It's Kinch's second Freshman of the Week honor this season and Minnesota's fourth weekly accolade of the year. Kinch hit .600 last weekend against Nebraska when she went 6-10 with four runs scored. She homered three home runs, hit a double and collected six RBIs. Kinch also had four walks, a .714 on-base percentage and a 1.600 slugging percentage. The starting catcher from Temecula, Calif., also had 20 putouts, had one assist and a perfect fielding percentage. She had a career-high three hits and scored the winning run in April 16 series-opening victory over the Huskers.
Autumn Pease collected her first career no-hitter with the Maroon & Gold and the 32nd no-hitter in University of Minnesota history last weekend. The junior hurler struck out three and walked one to improve to 10-1 on the season behind a 2-0 win over the Cornhuskers last Saturday.
• The Gopher pitching corps holds a 1.74 ERA this season, which ranks 13th nationally. Autumn Pease holds a 1.29 ERA with 79 strikeouts to just 14 walks and a 10-1 record in 81.1 innings this year. She also ranks 33rd nationally in lowest ERA. Amber Fiser holds a 1.96 ERA, 10-5 record and 93 strikeouts to 28 walks in 107.0 innings pitched this season.
• Minnesota's 32 home runs ranks first in the Big Ten, with second-place Michigan at 21 this year. In fact, Minnesota averages 1.14 home runs per game, which ranks 37th nationally.

AGAINST IOWA
• Iowa enters the Minnesota series with a 15-13 record this year and lost three-of-four to Northwestern last weekend. The Hawkeyes won their last game against Northwestern (5-2). Iowa won its series against Purdue and Indiana earlier this year.
• Minnesota has won 12 straight games over Iowa, including a three-game sweep in Minneapolis when the teams last met in 2019. The Gophers haven't lost to the Hawkeyes since falling 2-0 on May 8, 2015 during the Big Ten Tournament. Prior to that loss, it had been since 2012 in which the Gophers lost a regular-season series.
