MINNEAPOLIS - Two Gophers made an evening session appearance on day five of Wave II of the 2021 U.S. Olympic Swimming Team Trials. Alumni Bowe Becker and Lindsey Kozelsky both took the stage, competing in the 100m free finals and 200m breast semifinals, respectively.

The main headline of the night belonged to Becker, who posted a new personal best time of 48.22 in the night's final. The finish earned him a fifth place finish amongst the rest of the field, one spot up from where he was initially seeded entering the competition.

Though his time came in just 0.03 seconds behind the first four finishers and automatic Olympic qualifiers, Becker still holds a very solid chance at making Team USA. By Sunday's conclusion of the trials, Becker will know whether those chances will become a reality.

Kozelsky was the first of the duo to compete Thursday, starting off the day in the morning's preliminary session of the 200m breast. The Albert Lea, Minn. product started the second of seven heats off as hot as she possibly could, outpacing the rest of her field at each wall to comfortably finish with the top time of the race (2:29.85).

The time remained the fastest of the morning through the first four heats, before it was bested in the final three to drop her final seeding to 13th entering the night's semi. In the night's semi, Kozelsky would hold that same spot, dropping nearly a full second to finish in a time of 2:28.78 for a 13th place finish overall.

Friday's morning session will feature alumna Tevyn Waddell for the Maroon & Gold, who will be competing in the 200m backstroke prelims. Those will once again kick off at 10 a.m. CT on NBCOlympics.com, a link to which can be found in the preview linked above.
