Zaltos Named to Greek U23 Roster

Zaltos was a First Team All-American and a Big Ten champion for the 'U' in 2021.
MINNEAPOLIS – 2021 First Team All-American and Big Ten hammer throw champion Kostas Zaltos has been named to Greece's national team roster for the 2021 European Athletics U23 Championships this month in Tallinn, Estonia.
Kadriorg Stadium will host the event, which runs from July 8-11. Zaltos will compete in the men's hammer throw with qualifying set for Thursday, July 8 before the final on Friday, July 9.
A native of Kilikis, Greece, Zaltos made a significant impact among the 'U' throws corps in 2021 as a redshirt freshman. After winning a Big Ten title in the hammer throw and being named the 2021 Big Ten Outdoor Track & Field Freshman of the Year, Zaltos picked up First Team All-America honors with a third-place finish at the NCAA championships. His personal best throw came at the national competition with a mark of 233-07 ft. (71.21 meters) that ranks second all-time in Gophers history.
Zaltos has won Greek U20 national championships in the discus (2019) and the hammer throw (2018) and has represented his country at the 2019 European U20 Championships and the 2018 IIAF World U20 Championships.
