MINNEAPOLIS - Megan Hasz has announced that she will return to the University of Minnesota cross country and track & field program for the 2021-22 season, becoming the latest Gopher to announce their use of an extra season of competition.
Hasz joins a list of six other Gophers, including her twin sister Bethany, to exercise their extra year of eligibility, which was permitted under NCAA guidelines due to the circumstances surrounding COVID-19.
"I've loved my time as a Gopher, so I chose to take the opportunity to spend another year doing what I love with this amazing team," Hasz said. "We have built a really solid group over the last few years. I'm excited to be a part of it for a little longer and see what we can do."
Last season, Megan helped the Maroon & Gold to a fifth-place finish at the NCAA Cross Country Championships, as she placed 114th overall and fifth on the team with a time of 21:37.7. Hasz was also named a USTFCCCA All-Academic honoree, as well as an Academic All-Big Ten honoree in both cross country and track & field.
Minnesota will return to cross country competition on Friday, Sept. 3 when they will hold an intrasquad scrimmage at Lee Bolstad Course.
