Glynn Records Hole-In-One as Gophers Wrap Up Marquette Intercollegiate

Minnesota men's golf junior Connor Glynn recorded the biggest shot of the tournament with a hole-in-one during the final round of the Marquette Intercollegiate on Tuesday.
As a team, the Gophers fought through rough weather conditions to shoot 13-over in the round. Minnesota ends the event in 17th place with a 880 total score (+16).
"This was a disappointing way to finish off the event," head coach Justin Smith said. "We have to tighten up a lot of areas of our games starting on the greens and off the tee. I look forward to seeing who will respond and lead us into our home event at Windsong Farm."
After one birdie and three bogeys in his first nine, Glynn hit the turn and started to heat up, as he birdied on No. 1 and No. 2. Battling the elements, the junior faltered with three bogeys and a triple bogey over the next six holes. On No. 9, the last hole of his competition, Glynn rebounded to hit a hole-in-one. He finished the tournament in a tied for 76th (72-76-76--224)
Antoine Sale was Minnesota's top finisher, finishing in a tie for 39th (73-69-74--216). Sale went 3-over through seven holes, but birdied three times in the next seven to get to even par. Bogeys on holes eight and nine pushed him to 2-over in the final round.
Next on the leaderboard for the Gophers was Eduardo Galdos after he tied for 51st (74-71-74--219) in his first collegiate event. The freshman birdied on No. 13, bogeyed on No. 15 and double bogeyed on No. 16. A final nine at even par left him at 2-over to close the day.
Ben Warian tied for 70th (73-73-77--223) after the three day event. His third round on Tuesday included three birdies and seven bogeys. Senior Will Grevlos closed the day tied for 85th (74-74-78-226).
Texas A&M (832) claimed the title after a 7-under 281 third round, followed by South Florida (836) and Purdue (838).
The Gophers return home to host the Gopher Invitational on Sunday, Sept. 12 and Monday, Sept. 13 at Windsong Farm Golf Club in Independence, Min.. The tournament is free to attend for all fans and supporters. Live stats will be available on GolfStat.com.
