‘U’ Rallies for 5-3 Win Over Under-18 Team

MINNEAPOLIS – Ben Meyers scored twice and finished Minnesota's exhibition series with four points as the Gopher men's hockey program picked up a 5-3 win over the U.S. National Under-18 Team on Monday evening at 3M Arena at Mariucci.
Rhett Pitlick and Blake McLaughlin each tallied two points with a goal and an assist while Aaron Huglen added a goal for the Maroon & Gold. Matt Staudacher pocketed two assists as four Gophers tallied multi-point games.
Justen Close picked up his second exhibition win in a row for Minnesota, making 25 saves on 28 shots. The Gophers held a 37-28 advantage on shots and rallied with three goals in the third period to pick up the win after earning a 5-2 win over St. Thomas on Sunday afternoon at Doug Woog Arena in South St. Paul.

Minnesota returns to regular-season play next weekend with a two-game series against Michigan State in East Lansing, Mich.
