STARTING FIVE
• The University of Minnesota men's basketball team is back in action Sunday when it takes on the Indiana Hoosiers, 11 a.m., CT in Bloomington, Ind. It marks the first road contest for the Gophers since Dec. 11, when Minnesota and head coach Ben Johnson got its Big Ten win of the season and his head coaching career. The Gophers are 3-0 in true road contests this season and 5-0 away from Williams Arena this season.
• The Golden Gophers and Hoosiers met just once last season, also on the road (Fev. 17, 2021) in an 82-72 loss. Indiana is currently on a three-game win streak over the Gophers. Minnesota's last win over the Hoosiers was an 84-63 win Feb. 16, 2019 at Williams Arena. The last Gopher road win at Indiana dates back to Jan. 12, 2012 when Minnesota won, 77-74. Minnesota was led by Austin Hollins who scored 18 on 7-of-10 shooting.
• Sunday's game marks the first meeting for two new Big Ten head coaches in Ben Johnson and Indiana's Mike Woodson. Both coaches were hired just six days apart at their respective alma maters. Johnson, in his first-ever head coaching position, was hired on March 22, 2021. Although new to the head coaching realm, Johnson has been a collegiate coach for over 15 years, including six in the Big Ten. Woodson, hired March 28, 2021, also returns to his alma mater after spending his entire coaching career in the NBA. After his Hoosier career ended in 1980, Woodson went on to play and coach in the NBA, including as the head coach with the Atlanta Hawks and New York Knicks.
• Jamison Battle is ranked sixth in Big Ten overall scoring. He averages 18.2 points per game, while Payton Willis ranks 11th in the league at 15.7. Willis holds this league's best three-point percentage at 44.1 percent. Battle leads the league averaging 36.5 minutes played. The duo also ranks third and seventh in three-point average with 2.5 and 2.4 respectively. Willis also ranks fourth in the league in steals per game (1.8).
• Jamison Battle added 10 points against Illinois, which marked his 27th straight double-figure scoring game dating back to last season at George Washington. Battle's season high is 27 points (at Michigan), while his career high is 29 (vs. Duquesne). He has scored over 20 points for the Gophers in five games this season.

SCOUTING THE HOOSIERS
• Indiana enters the Minnesota game with an 11-3 overall record and 2-2 within Big Ten play. The Hoosiers last played on Thursday in a 67-51 win over No. 13/12 Ohio State, also at Assembly Hall. The Hoosiers are 10-0 at home this season.
• Preseason All-American Trayce Jackson-Davis had 27 points, 12 rebounds and five blocked shots against OSU earlier this week. His career-best of 43 points also came earlier this year against Marshall. His 19.9 ppg ranks fourth in the league, while his 8.5 rebounds per game is fifth. Through four Big Ten games this year, he averages 17.5 ppg. Race Thompson averages 10.8 ppg and ranks sixth in the Big Ten with 7.9 rpg. Xavier Johnson rounds out the team's top three-scorers with 9.4 ppg.
• As a team, the Hoosiers are shooting 47.8 percent from the field, including 34.7 from three. Indiana ranks first in scoring defense at 60.9 percent. The Hoosiers also average a league-best 30.7 defensive rebounds per game, 40.6 total per game.
