Toyosi Onabanjo led Iowa with 10 kills.

Set Breakdown:
Set 1: The two teams split the first 10 points of the match before a 3-0 Gophers run gave them a slight edge at 8-5. Carter Booth and Mckenna Wucherer combined for a block, Naya Gros registered a kill and CC McGraw put the home team up three with an ace. Iowa would cut the lead to one at 9-8 before two kills from Jenna Wenaas put the 'U' up 11-8 and forced a Hawkeyes timeout. UI would cut the lead to one at 13-12 and 14-13 before another 3-0 run put the 'U' up 17-13, causing another timeout. Taylor Landfair and Mckenna Wucherer each tallied kills in the run. Kills from Wucherer and Wenaas capped a 6-0 run that put the 'U' up 20-13 to take a commanding lead in the set. Iowa would get no closer than six the rest of the way as Minnesota took set one, 25-19. Wenaas led the team with seven kills while Landfair, Wucherer and Gros had three each. The Gophers hit .371 compared to .225 for the Hawkeyes.

Set 2: Minnesota and Iowa went back and forth through the first 12 points before a 3-0 run gave the Gophers a 9-6 lead. Two kills by Landfair helped charge the spurt. UI would battle back, however, going on a 6-1 run to take a 12-10 lead. The Gophers would battle back to tie it at 13 before the Hawkeyes scored two straight to take a 15-13 lead into the media break. The Gophers would tie it up at 15 after a block by Gros and Shaffmaster but the Hawkeyes would retake a two-point lead at 19-17 after a kill and an ace. A 3-0 run by the Gophers, which included a Booth kill, Shaffmaster ace and Iowa hitting error, gave Minnesota a 20-19 lead and forced a timeout from the visitors. The Gophers stretched their slim lead to two at 23-21 after a pair of kills from Landfair, forcing Iowa into its final timeout of the set. A block by Gros and Landfair and another kill by Landfair ended the set with a 25-22 Minnesota victory. Landfair led the Gophers with 10 kills in the set while Wucherer had five. The 'U' hit .333 on the set, compared to .176 for Iowa.

Set 3: Iowa jumped out to a fast start in set three, taking a 6-2 lead. The Hawkeyes would extend it to 9-4 before the Gophers took their first timeout of the set. UI would go up by as many as six at 11-5 before the 'U' began to cut into the deficit. Minnesota would cut it to three at 13-10 after a pair of kills from Landfair. A pair of kills and a block from Gros cut the lead to one at 14-13 and UI called its first timeout of the set. Minnesota kept it going after the timeout, capping its 7-0 run to go up 17-14 with two more kills from Gros and one from Landfair. UI then called its second timeout of the set. The Hawkeyes responded after the timeout this time, going on a 3-0 run to tie it up at 17. UI would retake the lead once again at 20-19. Minnesota would tie it at 20 before two straight Hawkeye points put the visitors up 22-20, forcing a timeout from coach McCutcheon. UI would go up 23-20 before two Gophers blocks and a kill from Wenaas tied it up at 23. The Hawkeyes would go on to win, 26-24, in set three. Iowa hit .261 compared to .233 for the Gophers in the set.

Set 4: The Gophers scored seven of the first nine in set four, forcing an early Iowa timeout. Booth, Landfair and Gros had kills in the run while Booth and Wenaas also tallied a block. The Gophers would go up as many as seven at 11-4 after a solo block and a kill by Gros, but a 3-0 UI run cut the lead to four at 11-7. A 3-1 lead put the Gophers back up six at 14-8 after kills from Booth and Gros. After a point from the Hawkeyes, a 5-0 run by the 'U' put the home team up 19-9, taking full control of the set. A block from Booth and Wenaas and an ace from Rachel Kilkelly finished the spurt.
