Minnesota Rowing Set for Two Days at Iowa

MINNEAPOLIS - The Minnesota rowing team heads to Iowa City, Iowa, for two days of competition against the Hawkeyes Oct. 21-22.
The scrimmages along the Iowa River will begin around 3:30 p.m. Friday featuring four fours and three eights doing two 3,500-meter head race pieces. The action continues Saturday morning at 8 a.m. as the eights take the water for 1,000-meter pieces side by side.

"Our team has put in a lot of hard work this fall. It is exciting to get off campus and see how that hard work plays out in a competitive setting," head coach Alicea Strodel said. "Scrimmages allow us to coach and teach during the event, which is very different from spring racing, and a perfect growth opportunity this time of year."
Gopher Captains Named
Minnesota announced that seniors Isabella Bejaran (Egg Harbor Township, N.J.) and Harriet Haege (Orange, New South Wales, Australia) were named team captains for the 2022-23 season. Both captains are entering their fourth year with the Maroon and Gold and were on the First Varsity Eight boat during the Gophers' fifth-place result at the 2022 Big Ten Championship.
Fall Finale
The Gophers compete once more this fall heading to Wisconsin Oct. 29 for scrimmages against the Badgers. The spring portion of the schedule opens in late March during a trip to Bloomington, Ind., and continues with three more events before the Big Ten Championship May 14.
