QUICK KICKS: IOWA
Minnesota looks to break its four-match losing streak and earn its second Big Ten win of the season against the Hawkeyes. Iowa sits at tenth in the conference, one slot above the Golden Gophers.

0-2-3 in the Big Ten, Iowa has picked up conference ties against Michigan State, Illinois and Michigan. They've also seen close losses against Wisconsin and Ohio State.

SCOUTING IOWA

The Hawkeyes have two offensive standouts in Hailey Rydberg and Kyndal Anderson. Rydberg, a fifth year from St. Charles, Ill., has tabbed 43 shots this season, fit for third overall in the Big Ten. Junior Kyndal Anderson, from Acworth, Ga., has scored two game winning goals this year, coming against Cal Poly and DePaul.

Monica Wilhelm sits between the posts for the Hawkeyes. She's had 41 saves on the season, seating her at eighth in saves and sixth in saves per game (3.42) in the Big Ten. The redshirt senior has racked up 3,099 career minutes, including 970 this season.

LAST WEEKEND RECAP

The Gophers saw two losses last weekend against Michigan and No. 23 Wisconsin. Despite a pointless weekend, Minnesota kept things even against Michigan through the 50th minute. Minnesota native Meredith Haakenson scored to hand Michigan its first conference win.

Senior goalkeeper Megan Plaschko was solid in net, capturing six saves against Michigan. Plaschko stayed big and came off her line, diffusing multiple Wolverine opportunities.

In Madison, the Golden Gophers took the lead at the 50-minute mark. Freshman midfielder Amelia Brown scored her first career goal as a Gopher off a corner kick from graduate forward McKenna Buisman.

It wouldn't be enough, as the Badgers answered back twice in the 82nd and 87th minutes to take the win.

HOME SWEET HOME
Minnesota has held its own while playing on its home turf. Offensively, the Gophers have outshot their opponents on goal 44-23 at Elizabeth Lyle Robbie Stadium.

Ranked 14th in the NCAA for drawing corner kicks, averaging 7.31 per game, Minnesota has proven to be dangerous on set pieces. Six of its 19 goals have been off corner kicks.

Four of their six set piece goals have been at home.

SENIOR SUNDAY
The 2023 class will be honored prior to the match against Iowa on Sunday. Members include forward Izzy Brown, defender Eva Bruer, defender Gabbie Cesarone, forward Sadie Harper, and goalkeeper Megan Plaschko.

Together, this class has a combined 21 wins, 19 goals, and 17 shutouts. Plaschko, Harper, and Bruer began their Golden Gopher careers during the fall of 2019 while Brown transferred in the spring of 2021 and Cesarone the spring of 2022.

FACING RANKED FOES

The Gophers faced their third ranked opponent last weekend in No. 23 Wisconsin. Prior to Sunday's match, they have performed against No. 9 Northwestern and No. 7 TCU.

So far this season, Minnesota has led ranked opponents for 71 minutes and have outshot them 29-24. In all three matches, their ranked opponents have scored game winning goals in the last 10 minutes to defeat Minnesota.

MAKING HER MARK
Against Michigan, Megan Plaschko posted a season high six saves on the night. The Wolverines' offense peppered Plaschko with shots, but the keeper persisted making multiple Superman-esque saves.

The senior is currently ranked seventh in the NCAA in keeper minutes, boasting 1,170 minutes. With 32 saves under her belt this year, she's faced 85 shots with five wins and four shutouts.

UP NEXT
Minnesota will hit the road next week as it travels to Rutgers and Maryland. Game times are set for 6 p.m. CT against the Scarlet Knights on Thursday and 12 p.m. CT against the Terrapins. Both matches can be streamed live on B1G+.
