Gophers Announce 2022-23 Track & Field Schedules

MINNEAPOLIS -- The University of Minnesota Gophers track & field programs announced both their indoor and outdoor schedules for the upcoming 2022-23 season Monday.
INDOOR
The Golden Gophers indoor schedule will kick off in early December with the Minnesota Icebreaker Invite from Dec. 9-10. All indoor home meets will be ran at the Minnesota Fieldhouse, a 200-meter, six-land track that was completed in 2018.
Minnesota will host four indoor meets when the calendar turns to 2023 starting with the Minnesota Open on Jan. 7. The Gophers will also host the Jack Johnson Classic (Jan. 27-28), the Gopher Classic (Feb. 4) and the Snowshoe Open (Feb. 17).
The Maroon and Gold will take their talents on the road first on Jan. 13 at the St. Thomas Invitational as well as the Leonard Hilton Memorial Invitational at the University of Houston. The following weekend the Gophers will travel to Ames to run at the Cyclone Open. The Meyo Invite will coincide with the Gopher Classic meet with the Gophers running in South Bend on Feb. 3-4. The final road trip will be at the Windy City Invite, hosted by the University of Wisconsin, in Chicago, Ill., from Feb. 10-11.
The indoor championship season starts with the Big Ten Indoor Championships from Feb. 24-25, in Geneva, Ohio, at the SPIRE Institute. The NCAA Indoor Championships will be held from March 10-11 in Albuquerque, N.M.
OUTDOOR
The outdoor season begins the first week of March at the University of Texas from March 3-4. The USF Bulls Invitational will be hosted two weeks later down in Tampa, Fla., from March 17-18. The Maroon and Gold will remain on the road during the weekend of March 24-25, with meets at Baylor (Clyde Hart Classic) and at North Carolina State (Raleigh Relays).
The first action in the Twin Cities for the Gophers will be the Hamline Invite on April 1 followed by a weekend back on the road at the Jim Click Invite at the University of Arizona on April 8.
Minnesota will run at the Tomcat Twilight on April 12 followed by another mid-week meet at home at the M City Classic on April 19. Another split weekend of action will see the Gophers run at the University of Virginia Invitational on April 21-22, at LSU at the Alumni Gold invite on April 22 and at the Holst Invitational on April 22.
One final home meet will be run on April 26, at the Running on Hope Open followed by the famous Drake Relays from April 27-29.
The outdoor championship season starts on May 12, in Bloomington, Ind., and concludes on May 14. The NCAA Outdoor Regional will be contested in Sacramento, Calif., from May 24-27. Those who qualify for the NCAA Outdoor Championships will head to Austin, Texas, from June 7-10.
