• The University of Minnesota is back in action for the first time since Dec. 14 when Chicago State visits Williams Arena on Thursday afternoon. • Minnesota's last tussle with Chicago State dates back to 2015 when the Gophers earned a 70-52 win on Dec. 16, 2015. In that game, Jordan Murphy scored 12 points and grabbed 18 rebounds, while Carlos Morris and Charles Buggs each scored 14 points for the Gophers.Â
• Minnesota is coming off a 72-56 win over Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Dec. 14, which snapped a five-game losing streak. The Gophers were led by Braeden Carrington, who had a career-high 20 points, while Jamison Battle had 18 (five threes) and Dawson Garcia had 14 points.
• The Pine Bluff win marked the first time the Gophers had over 10 three-pointers in a game since March 2, 2022 at Maryland, also the first time since that game that a Gopher had over five threes in a game. Battle had seven in that game en route to 39 points. It was also a career-high five assists for Garcia.Â
• Minnesota has three freshmen that average over 20 minutes played this season in Braeden Carrington (24.5), Pharrel Payne (21.8) and Jaden Henley (20.6). No other Big Ten team has more than two freshman playing 20+ minutes per game.
Purdue (Smith/Loyer), Ohio State (Sensabaugh/Thornton) and Illinois (Clark/Epps) all have two, but Minnesota is the only school with three. In fact, within the Big Ten, only six schools have a single freshman that averages over 20 minutes played this season.Â

• Chicago State enters the Minnesota game with a 3-11 overall record. As of June, 2022, Chicago State serves as a Division I Independent after leaving the Western Athletic Conference in June. Â
• CSU is coming off a 66-52 loss to Illinois State Monday night in Normal, Ill. Jahsean Corbett was Chicago State's leading scorer with 14 points while Elijah Weaver was the only other CSU player in double figures with 10.
• Wesley Cardet Jr., leads the team with 15.3  points per game, while Corbett averages 13.8 and leads the team in rebounds averaging 8.1 per game. Brent Davis leads the team in steals (17), while Cardet Jr., leads the team with 41 assists.Â
