Gophers Fall to Utah, Win Streak Ends at 10

Utah defeats Minnesota 4-0, Gophers split matches in Salt Lake City
Following their win over Washington State, Minnesota returned to action in Salt Lake City on Sunday morning. Taking on the hosts Utah, the Gophers' record streak to start a season came to a close. After winning their first ten matches, this marked their first loss of the season. Utah advanced to 2-0 on the weekend. With this match, Minnesota moves to 10-1, while Utah improves to 9-0.
Minnesota dropped two of three doubles matches, winning at the No. 1 spot. Utah won all three singles matches which finished, en route to a 4-0 win
In doubles, Rachel Hanford and Emilee Duong beat Madison Tattini and Linda Huang 6-1 at the No. 1 position. Utah prevailed at the second and third positions to secure the point for the hosts. This marked just the second time on the year in which the Gophers have lost the doubles point.
In singles play, Utah posted wins at the No. 1, No. 3, and No. 4 positions. Anastasia Goncharova won 7-5, 6-1 against Vasia Karvouni at the fourth position. At No. 3, Lindsay Hung won straight sets, squaring off against Ekin Ercetin. At No. 1, Rachel Hanford took the first set, before falling in the second two against Linda Huang to close out the match.
Positions No. 2, No. 5, and No. 6 went unfinished as a result of previous match results.
The Gophers split the weekend's matches, moving to 10-1 on the year. They will look to bounce back next weekend as they continue their stretch of away matches.

Minnesota continues their road trip, as they head to Tuscaloosa for a pair of matches against Memphis and Alabama. The Gophers will oppose the Tigers on Saturday, followed by the Crimson Tide on Sunday.
