Gophers Head to Arizona to Compete in Westbrook Invitational

The University of Minnesota women's golf team will travel to Arizona for the Westbrook Invitational beginning on Sunday morning. The two-day event will be played on Sunday and Monday at the Vistas Course at Westbrook Village Golf Club in Peoria, Ariz.
The tournament will be played as a 54-hole invitational format. Playing in threesomes, the teams will play 36 holes the first day and 18 holes the second day. The course is set at 6,230 yards with a par 72. There will be a shotgun start both days at 8:30 a.m.

LINEUP
The Gophers will send out a lineup of junior Emma Carpenter, senior Geraldine Wong, senior Joanne Free, junior Grace Curran and junior Leah Herzog.
THE FIELD
The tournament will feature a total of 14 teams, including many top-60 ranked programs. Joining the Gophers will be No. 37 Mississippi State, No. 38 UNLV, No. 47 Oklahoma, No. 51 Denver, No. 52 Washington State, No. 53 Ohio State, No. 58 College of Charleston, Wisconsin, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Kansas, Kansas State and Iowa.
THE COURSE
The exciting and inviting course was designed by the renowned Ken Cavanaugh. The Vistas Course features a mixture of desert landscape and traditional golf design, with desert transition areas and guarded greens.

Following the Westbrook Invitational, Minnesota's next tournament is the Valspar Augusta Invitational in Augusta, Ga. from Sunday, March 12 to Monday, March 13.
