Fish Named B1G Third Star of the Week

Fish set up both game-winning goals last weekend and has points in three of the last four games.

MINNEAPOLIS – Sophomore defenseman Carl Fish has been named the Big Ten Third Star of the Week after helping the No. 7/8 Gopher men's hockey program to a weekend sweep over Michigan State.
The weekly honor is Fish's first career accolade from the conference.

A native of St. Paul, Minn., Fish more than doubled his season point total in the series as the defensemen contributed three assists over the weekend for a new single-season career high of five points on the year. With a temporarily depleted roster for the Maroon & Gold, Fish's offensive contributions came at the right time as he set up both game-winning goals in the series (4-2 win on Friday, 3-1 win on Saturday) and also assisted on Friday night's insurance goal. Minnesota has now won nine-straight games over Michigan State.

Fish has now tallied points in three of the last four games and four of the last six contests (all of his points this season have come in that stretch as well as five of his eight career points). The Gophers are now 6-0-0 all-time when he records a point.

Next Up: Road Stretch Starts in Columbus
The Gophers begin a four-game road stretch next weekend with a two-game Big Ten series at Ohio State. Value City Arena hosts the conference clash, starting on Friday, Feb. 11 at 5:30 p.m. CT (TV: Big Ten Network; Stream; FOX Sports App; Radio: 1130 KTLK/103.5 FM) and concluding on Saturday, Feb. 12 at 5:00 p.m. CT (TV: Big Ten Network; Stream; FOX Sports App; Radio: 1130 KTLK/103.5 FM).
