Ziemer, Mittelstadt, Lamb honored Wednesday
ROSEMONT, Ill. - Three members of the Minnesota men's hockey team were honored Wednesday by the Big Ten Conference with the announcement of its 2026 postseason awards. Brodie Ziemer earned All-B1G Second Team accolades, while Luke Mittelstadt was named to the All-B1G Honorable Mention Team. Brody Lamb was selected as the B1G Sportsmanship Award recipient.
Ziemer put together a career year as one of the most prolific goal scorers in the NCAA, ranking fourth nationally with 23 goals, including 17 during league play. A native of Chaska, Minn., he buried 11 power-play tallies, which led the country at the end of the regular season, and finished the year at a point-per-game pace behind 36 points in 36 appearances. He totaled five multi-goal performances and delivered back-to-back games with multiple goals at Ohio State in December to earn B1G First Star honors. Ziemer also registered a career-best, eight-game point streak from Jan. 24 to Feb. 26, and the sophomore was at the top of his game from November through February when he scored 18 times during a 20-game span.
Providing an anchor for Minnesota along the blue line all season, Mittelstadt capped his career in the Maroon and Gold with his second All-B1G Honorable Mention honor after earning the distinction as a sophomore in 2023-24. The senior captain took on a heavy workload in his final campaign, playing nearly 27 minutes per game and matched his career best with 21 points to contribute at both ends of the ice. It was the third time in four seasons on campus that he reached the 20-point mark. Hailing from Eden Prairie, Minn., Mittelstadt's 19 assists ranked second on the team and led all defensemen in the Big Ten Conference at the conclusion of the regular season, while both of his goals during the season served as game winners.
Lamb closed his four-year career at Minnesota by earning the B1G Sportsmanship Award for 2025-26. The Byron, Minn., product had his best offensive season behind 30 points on 14 goals and 16 helpers, ranking second on the team in scoring, and reached double-digit goals for the third-consecutive campaign. He had the Gophers' longest point streak of the year after reaching the scoresheet in nine-straight outings from Jan. 17 and Feb. 14. The senior captain saved some of his best performances for road games where he matched a career-high three points three different times away from home, including back-to-back wins over No. 4 Denver (Nov. 29) and Ohio State (Dec. 4).
The Gophers have now had 17 all-time selections to the All-B1G Second Team and 31 honorable mention picks. This year marks the first time since 2019-20 and just the third time since the league formed that a Minnesota player was not named to the first team. The league office also announced the Academic All-B1G recipients for 2025-26 Wednesday, which included 13 members of the men's hockey team.
