Quick Turnaround Sends Gophers to South Carolina for Briar’s Creek Invitational

The University of Minnesota women's golf team will compete in the Briar's Creek Invitational starting on Monday morning. The two-day event will be completed over Monday and Tuesday at The Golf Club at Briar's Creek in Johns Island, S.C.
The tournament will have a 54-hole invitational format. Teams will play 36 holes on Monday and 18 holes on Tuesday. The course is set at 6,116 yards with a par 72. There will be shotgun starts on Monday at 8 a.m. CT and Tuesday at 7:45 a.m. CT.

LINEUP
The Maroon and Gold will send out a lineup of junior Emma Carpenter, junior Grace Curran, senior Joanne Free, junior Leah Herzog and senior Geraldine Wong.
THE FIELD
The tournament will feature 18 teams, including four top-50 ranked programs. Joining the Gophers will be No. 11 Michigan, No. 26 Illinois, No. 28 UCF, No. 47 Campbell, Wisconsin, Indiana, College of Charleston, Charleston Southern, Old Dominion, East Carolina, Boston College, Colorado, University of Kansas, Nebraska, North Carolina State, Penn State and Tulane.
THE COURSE
The College of Charleston's Golf Club at Briar's Creek offers no shortage of marshes, water, wildlife and wetlands, and occasional bunkers. The Rees Jones designed course embraces the rich, low landscape and vegetation of Johns Island and the Kiawah River.

After the Briar's Creek Invitational, the Gophers will compete in the Indiana Invitational in Bloomington, Ind. on Saturday, April 9 and Sunday, April 10.
