MINNEAPOLIS -- University of Minnesota sophomore Shelby Frank and redshirt sophomore Kostas Zaltos have been honored by the Big Ten Conference for their performances at the ASU Invitational in Tempe, Ariz.

Frank launched a mark of 57.31m (188-0) to win the event which puts her third in the nation in the event and first among Big Ten throwers. Frank's mark also goes down as lifetime best and inches her closer to the school record held by Agness Esser (57.98m, 190-3) that was posted back in 2018.

Kostas Zaltos had his best performance of the young outdoor season, launching the hammer 70.96m (232-9) mark in the hammer throw, finishing as the runner-up finisher at the ASU Invitational but was the top mark by a collegiate athlete. The mark ranks Zaltos third in the nation currently and is the 41st-farthest mark in the world this year and is the third best amongst athletes from Greece.

The award marks Frank's second career Big Ten Athlete of the Week award. It is the second time this year she has been honored, the first of the outdoor season. For Zaltos, it is his first weekly honor of his career and the first by a member of the men's track squad.

The University of Minnesota track and field team will compete in its first outdoor track meet this season in the Twin Cities when they compete at the Hamline Invite on April 2. The action will begin at 11 a.m. CT.
